Makapu'u Beach Park
A local Opihi picker competes with rough surf on the rocky shoreline of Makapuʻu Beach Park, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Opihi, a pricey shellfish that can be found in Honolulu fish markets, are found clinging to rocks. With a sharp knife and a rattling bag of shellfish around their waste, Opihi pickers risk their lives navigating the surf to acquire this delicacy.
